American singer and ‘Godfather’ actor who had Britain’s first number one
Singer Al Martino, who played Johnny Fontane in The Godfather, died at home in Philadelphia on October 13, 2009. He was 82.
He has the distinction of having Britain’s first No1 record, Here In My Heart, when the New Musical Express introduced its charts in November 1952.
